The British Mass Spectrometry Society is a registered charity, founded in 1964 (registration number 281330). It aims to encourage participation in all aspects of mass spectrometry on the widest basis, to promote knowledge and advancement in the field and to provide a forum for the exchange of views and information. It is committed to ensuring equal opportunities and reflecting the diversity of the society as a whole.
The BMSS Bid to Host IMSC24 in Manchester CELEBRATING ASTON’S NOBEL CENTENARY
The BMSS propose that holding IMSC24 in the UK in 2022 will be a fitting
tribute to Francis William Aston FRS.
The BMSS has submitted a bid to the International Mass Spectrometry
Foundation (IMSF) to host the 24th International Mass Spectrometry Conference
(IMSC24) in Manchester in August 2022. The IMSF have informed us that they
have received a total of three bid submissions and that they have now been
circulated to the IMSF affiliates for evaluation. To review the BMSS bid submission

Churchill College provides an accessible location within the City of Cambridge with parking and award winning accommodation on-site. BMSS has reserved the public spaces of the college to accommodate the conference, introduction to mass spectrometry short course, careers workshop, vendor exhibition, and the society’s AGM. The conference dinner will be held offsite in the spectacular dining hall of St. John’s College. The conference will also feature a barbeque social evening in the extensive grounds of Churchill College.
The BMSS committee look forward to welcoming a delegation of scientists from the Chinese Mass Spectrometry Society (CMSS), to BMSS39 in Cambridge (11-13 September 2018). The CMSS delegation of 10 colleagues will be led by Professor Yi Chen (CMSS Vice President). BMSS members are encouraged to extend a very warm welcome to our distinguished guests.

We are returning to the RNCM in Manchester in September 2019 for BMSS40. Manchester has a long association with the development of mass spectrometry, and is the anchor point of one of the largest mass spectrometry clusters in Europe, …a very fitting location for the 40th BMSS Annual Meeting!

The Society has been informed that Dai’s funeral will take place at 14:30 BST on Friday 22th June at Morriston Crematorium, Morriston, Swansea, SA5 7HZ, UK.
In lieu of flowers the Games family wish for donations to be made to BMSS to sponsor student participation in mass spectrometry and chromatography.
