Seminar Programme

This day-long event titled “Cultivating Inclusivity & Building a Positive Culture within Mass Spectrometry” is aimed towards the entire inclusivity and diversity community along with allies and those who wish to improve their understanding and learn approaches to improve and implement a positive culture within the community

There will be sessions included with a coach aimed at fostering allyship. We also aim to encourage industry professionals and vendors to join. They will be given the opportunity to present and show examples where their workplace is encouraging inclusivity & diversity; the aim being to share ideas and encourage an overall improvement in the workplace.

Overall, the purpose of the day is to provide an opportunity for positive networking within science and to gain a greater understanding of current topics relating to inclusivity and diversity whilst having the opportunity to improve personal career development and network with current industry and academic experts.

In-person 1-hour Workshop with Hannah Roberts entitled ‘The Power of Allyship: Transforming Your Inner Voices for Personal and Collective Growth’

Do you struggle with a critical inner voice that compares you unfavourably to others, reprimands you, and leaves you feeling ‘less than’?

In this workshop, you will:

  • Explore how to become your own best ally by identifying your unique ‘stress team’ of inner selves—such as The Perfectionist, The Pusher, and The Pleaser.
  • Learn how to detach from 'stress team’ agendas, empowering yourself to make conscious choices in your behaviour and responses.
  • Cultivate self-compassion and extend this mindset to support the allyship of others, fostering progressive and inclusive workplace cultures.

Every participant will also receive a free copy of Hannah’s book ‘Intentional Careers for STEM Women: Six strategic steps to balance, confidence and fulfilment’, worth £17, and eWorkbook PDF.

Peer networking session

Lunch provided. Over lunch, we encourage delegates to network with colleagues from different sectors, organisations and backgrounds.
